Well Contractors Certification: Home
The Well Contractors Certification Commission was established by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1997. The enabling legislation established a seven member Commission. Members of the Commission must have the following qualifications:
- 2 members are Environmental Health Professionals, actively engaged in well inspection and permitting.
- 1 member is appointed by the Governor from the Public at Large.
- 4 members are certified well contractors from designated areas of the State. (2 of which are engaged primarily with domestic water supply wells, 1 with large capacity water supply wells, and 1 with nonwater supply wells, such as monitoring or recovery wells.)
The purpose of the Commission is to protect the public health and safety by ensuring the integrity and competence of well contractors through examination and certification of their competency to supervise and/or conduct well contractor activities.
