Waterkeeper Alliance Rule Petition

Introduction

The Environmental Management Commission (EMC) received two petitions for rule making seeking a requirement for permitted animal operations to monitor potential water quality impacts.  As part of the May EMC meeting, the EMC granted the petition using an alternative rule proposal as set forth by staff of the Division of Water Quality (DWQ).  However, the EMC directed DWQ staff to engage additional stakeholders before bringing draft rules back to the EMC in September as part of the request to proceed to the public notice process.
