- More than 5000 sample collections in the Ambient Monitoring Program, 18 lakes studied (445 collections), 300 collections associated with pollutant stressor studies, community structure assessments at more than 170 locations
- 27 fish kills investigated (mortality of about 140,000)
- 30 wells drilled by the DWQ Drill Team for resource evaluations (a total depth of 4,112 feet.)
- More than 174,0000 analyses performed by the DWQ Chemistry Laboratory staff
- 8,987 permits issued this year across all programs
- 9,335 inspections performed
- 814 enforcement actions
- $2,425,699 penalties assessed
- Seven Basinwide Water Quality Plans approved including those for the White Oak, Savannah, Watauga, Hiwassee, Little Tennessee, Chowan and Pasquotank river basins
- 3,800 wetlands acres on public land classified as Unique Wetlands for their high quality natural communities that provide habitat for threatened and endangered species...

- $68 million this year committed to fund 16 miles of sewer rehabilitation; three new wastewater treatment plants (one relocated out of the flood plain); upgraded 3 WWTPs; 2 WWTP expansions including land application, and a pump station/forcemain to take a failing system off line (leveraged additional funds from other sources)
In addition, final approval was granted on $22 million worth of projects consisting of 5 upgrades for WWTPs, 2 new WWTPs, 2 projects to service unsewered areas with failing systems, 2 rehab projects.
- $2,329,100 was awarded through the Section 319 Grant Program for local efforts to restore waters impaired by non-point source pollution. An additional $618,635 was awarded for other non-point source water quality improvement efforts such as education, research and demonstration projects.
- $103,271 was awarded to proposals for 205(j) grants for FY07. The federally funded 205(j) Grant Program is available to regional Councils of Government for water quality management planning efforts
